Welcome to Troop 710 in Goochland, VA

We are the only Troop serving the youth in Goochland County, Va. We are excited to have you join us. Troop 710 is located in the Heart of Virginia Scout Reservation, T. Brady Saunders, in Goochland, Virginia. The Troop meets in the Handicraft Lodge of the Cub Adventure Camp on every Monday evening that Goochland Public Schools are open. The reservation is located at 1723 Maidens Road, Maidens VA.

Troop 710 is actually two troops.  One for young men, one for young women - both troops are very active. Along with learning Scouting and leadership skills, we regularly camp, hike, bike, ski and float!

Important Update to Submit Pork Orders - New Deadline

Posted on Nov 10 2021 - 9:25am
I need to pass along an important update regarding our original deadline to submit pork loin orders for our fall pork fundraiser. The pork vendor called and shared that due to severe supply shortages and major staffing issues at the pork plants, he will need the bulk of our troop's pork loin orders this Friday, November 12th so he can guarantee our order.

New T-Shirts!!

Posted on Nov 6 2021 - 11:05am
If you are like our family, your older scout may have outgrown the last Class B T-shirt purchased several years ago. Now is your chance to get a new one (or two)! Adults can order them as well to show your support at troop events.

Update on Troop 710 Membership Dues for Re-Chartering

Posted on Oct 25 2021 - 6:00pm
Troop 710 Families,

On October 21st the Troop's Committee voted to approve the 2022 membership dues which will remain at $60/Scout with the Troop subsidizing the balance of $22/Scout. The $22/Scout subsidy will continue to be taken directly off the top of fundraising proceeds. It is imperative that all families actively participate in fundraising events. A sub-committee will be appointed to develop a fundraising participation tier as the National Boy Scouts of America continues to annually increase dues, so will the Troop. However, the Troop will supplement those dues based on family and scout fundraising participation. Please keep this in mind when fundraising opportunities become available. If you are interested in serving on this sub-committee, please let myself or anyone on the committee know. We would like to form this sub-committee immediately and suggestions will be brought before the Committee in early 2022.

See below what scouts will earn for each pork loin they sell.

Troop 710 Membership Dues Increase

Posted on Oct 10 2021 - 10:46am
The Troop Committee had a meeting and one of the topics on the agenda was the discussion of raising the 2021-2022 membership dues based on the continued increase of the annual dues from the National Boy Scouts of America. The national increase is due to the rising costs associated with scouting, including the cost of liability insurance.

Scouting is a year round program that remains one of the most valuable investments we can make to support young men and women today. The national membership fee is an enormous value when you consider that many seasonal extracurricular activities often start at $100 for registration alone. Add the cost of equipment, uniforms and other fees only to have participants lose interest after 1 or 2 seasons or outgrow the uniforms, shoes and equipment. The cost of scouting is an investment that lasts a lifetime and participants will never outgrow the values and leadership lessons learned along the way.
